Fifth in the Heat series

Blurb/Summary:

Nick thinks his asshole CIA boss has sent him on a wild goose chase. Hunting a fellow agent who’s a werewolf? What a crock!

Good at her job as a private investigator thanks to her werewolf-heightened senses, strength and speed, Melody Gray is happy and content with her life. Until a CIA agent shows up searching for her brother. What can a girl to do to keep this gorgeous, chocolate-skinned guy away from her brother? Keep his attention on her, of course, and what better way to accomplish that than with sex. Especially when her werewolf soul is howling that this sexy hunk is hers, her mate, even if he’s human. Or is he?

Unable to resist the fire between them, Melody and Nick turn to his aunt, a powerful Vodun priestess, for help figuring out what happens when human, werewolf and voodoo are mixed with an overwhelming urge to claim each other in every sexual way possible.

Review:

As the fifth book in the Heat series, this book is a continuation of previous werewolf romance stories. Not having read any of the prior tales of Heat, I did not know the background tale of Garth, Melody’s brother, or why the CIA would be hunting him. This was only a minor inconvenience, as the story really revolves around two other characters Melody Gray and Nick Price. Enough background information was dropped throughout the story to make the story enjoyable as a standalone.

Melody Gray is a werewolf, of sorts, and Nick Price is a human, of sorts. Somehow fate has declared that these two are to be soul mates. This has a drastic and previously unheard of effect upon our CIA agent.

This story is exactly what one should expect from a paranormal romance. The story’s sexual elements included light bondage and domination popular within lupine stories. Nick and Melody’s chemistry was intense and quickly drew the reader into their love hate relationship. The verbal exchanges between Alex and Nick regarding Melody’s brother Brendan made me smile. As did the comments between Drake, Melody and Brendan in reference to Drake’s suitability as a mate. I believe that we will be seeing Drake again at a later date. The story’s villain; Manno Cousan a so called vodun prince, was chased right out of the story, and with Tristan on his tail; my guess is on into the next.

This was a new and captivating tale in the Heat series which left me anticipating Tristan’s hunt. I await the tales of Tristan, Drake and Brendan, Ms. Mays, well done.
